16-year-old girl goes to hospital with bloating, goes into shock, doctors tell her she has only one week to live, needs emergency surgery

Alex Arkell, 16, from Stirling, Scotland, went to her doctor to get checked out for bloating and stomach pain she had been experiencing lately, never thinking she had just one week to live from a very rare tumour.
Alex first noticed the discomfort during a family vacation, and upon returning home. She rushed to make an appointment with her doctor. She had blood tests and just a week later was taken to the คาสิโนออนไลน์ UFABET ฝากถอนรวดเร็ว เริ่มต้นเล่นง่าย hospital for an ultrasound. By then, she had lost vision in her left eye and was told that her tumor had grown by 13 centimeters.
Alex was told she had a rare pituitary tumour, of which there are only 20 recorded cases worldwide, and had just one week to live. “At 16, my life just flew by before my eyes. Things I used to care about didn’t matter to me anymore,” the schoolgirl said. Adding that she was ordered to have emergency surgery before the tumour burst and put her life at risk.
“I was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery two days later. I don’t know how to describe how I felt at that moment. At that moment, I didn’t know how it would change my life. I was shocked, scared, and anxious about the surgery. I wondered if I would die or if I would have a scar on my face.”
Unfortunately, Alex suffered post-surgery problems in 2021 and was hospitalized for two weeks. During this time, she underwent continuous monitoring of her hormones and blood, as well as hourly monitoring of her health.
After going through the crisis, Alex was diagnosed with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). She almost missed an entire school year, including exams, because the recovery process took so long. 13 months later, Alex was told she needed emergency surgery again. After the tumor grew and pressed on her optic nerve.
In February 2023, she received five weeks of proton beam therapy, a targeted, lower-risk radiation treatment, until December of that year. When more bad news came : the radiation treatment was unsuccessful and she needed a third surgery. The surgery was successful, but she continues to receive treatment to completely remove the cancerous tumor.
