Rangers ‘to have new manager in place by end of this week’

Rangers chief executive Patrick Stewart has thanked Barry Ferguson for taking over as caretaker manager over the past three months and said the search for a new manager was nearing completion.

    Ferguson took over as caretaker manager after Philippe Clement was sack at the end of February and the club have now confirm that the former midfielder will step down from his role and return to his previous role as club ambassador.

    The Rangers CEO said. “The club and I’m sure all the fans will be forever grateful to Barry for stepping into the role of head coach.     “Barry, Neil (McCann), Billy (Dodds) and Allan (McGregor) have all had outstanding careers at Rangers and they have all elevated their status at the club with their performances since February. The reception they receive on Wednesday was well deserve and I know it means a lot to Barry and his staff.”

    “The search for a new head coach is progressing well and we look forward to concluding our process soon,”

    For those who Rangers have news of bringing in to manage the team, there are both Steven Gerrard. The former manager, and Davide Ancelotti, the son of Carlo Ancelotti, who are reported to have already been in talks.
