Liverpool manager Arne Slot was left disappointed by his team’s performance in their Champions League win at Girona.
Liverpool maintained their winning streak of six games and took the lead in this year’s UEFA Champions League table after Mohamed Salah scored a penalty to beat Girona 1-0 on Tuesday.
However, Girona had 13 chances to score and five were on target, forcing Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson, who returned to goal for a two-month hiatus, to make a few saves.
“I’m happy with the result, but the performance wasn’t up to our standards,” Slot said after the game. “I’m not happy with the performance tonight and we have to give Girona credit. Our standards have to be higher if we want to do something in the competition.”
“I’m really sorry for Girona. They are a team with high quality and deserved more than the three points they have so far. They have a really good game plan, but we have a good goalkeeper as well.”
“Alisson is not like he’s been Register ufabet out for two months. We have to thank him for the clean sheet. I have a joke with the players that maybe they wanted to see how ready Alisson was so they let him make so many saves. But he showed why I always say he’s our number one.”
